Michael V. Carstens

Michael V. Carstens is vice president and manages the supplemental health insurance products at Physicians Mutual Insurance Company in Omaha, Nebraska. Spending much of his career as a pricing actuary, his current responsibilities include design, development and management of hospitalization, dental and Medicare Supplement insurance products including extensive work with distribution areas promoting these products with agents and direct marketing methods.

Carstens is a current member of the American Lung Association, Upper Midwest Region Board of Directors. As a volunteer for over ten years, he has served in various capacities including Asthma Walk Team Captain, Board Member of American Lung Association Nebraska (which through a number of mergers eventually became part of American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest), local leadership board member, Chairman of the Board for American Lung Association of the Central States FY 2009-2010 and Board Development Committee Chairman for that organization. As part of his work, Carstens is also a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and is a member of that organization's Medicare Steering Committee.
