Alberto de Hoyos, MD, FACS, FCCP is a General Thoracic Surgeon certified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS)  and The American Board of Thoracic Surgeons (ABTS). Dr. de Hoyos initially trained in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary and Critical Care before deciding to become a surgeon. He trained in General Surgery at the University of Nevada and in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago. He also completed a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Foregut Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. de Hoyos returned to Northwestern University in 2004. In 2016 Dr. de Hoyos joined UT Southwestern in Dallas Texas where he was promoted to Professor of Surgery. Dr. de Hoyos is currently the Chief of Thoracic Surgery and the Director of Thoracic Oncology at Ascension Columbia-St. Mary Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. His interests in medicine include all aspects of thoracic oncology, robotic surgery and clinical outcomes. His personal interests include spending time with his family, travel, sport and fitness and playing bass in a Blues/Rock band (The Rib Lickers).
