In October 2014, I was in the process of getting medically screened to donate a kidney to a friend of mine, when I got the call I never expected to get. "We think you have lung cancer."

I never smoked and didn't have any symptoms. At first I was in denial, because I knew I had an anomaly in my left lung, but it was tested, monitored, etc, and found to be benign. Now they were telling me there was significant growth, and I should have surgery. I had surgery October 21st, and had my upper left lobe removed. The diagnosis was stage 2, non-small cell cancer. I had chemo for 4 months after that and have been cancer free since.
