Six years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. After my diagnosis I began a treatment regimen that included aggressive chemotherapy and radiation. At the conclusion of my treatments I found a trial drug for a new immunotherapy drug and I thought to myself, why not try?! At the start of the trial I reached my lowest point and the most difficult time of my journey to date. I was extremely sick and was even recommended for hospice care by a hospital doctor.
However, my amazing friends and family never lost hope, and I wasn’t ready to quit. Now I am doing much better and receiving an immunotherapy treatment every three weeks and I am enrolled in a new drug trial. I am truly enjoying life with my friends and family and I love a good happy hour! I am grateful for my opportunity to represent the state of Maryland as a LUNG FORCE Hero.
