Deanna K., FL

My primary physician urged me to have the lung screening, so I had it done. I was sent to a lung doctor to speak with him since there was an area of concern. He then recommended a pet scan, however after having that done the area had gotten smaller. So I was to have another scan within two years. I must say I kind of blew it off.

After having a DVT and Pulmonary Embolism in 2017, I was informed that spot had gotten bigger. After eight months I saw a pulmonologist and another scan with dye was done. That spot was now 3 cm, which is hard to relate to actual size. He referred me to a thoracic surgeon.

It is now July of 2018 and I am recovering from having my left lower lobe removed. It was cancer, but caught early enough that lymph nodes were clear of any cancer. I can not thank my primary doctor enough. Been through so much in the last couple of years, but it could have been so much worse. I do not need any chemo, just follow up with an oncologist for testing in the future.

If this screening would have cost me to have it, I more than likely would not have had it done.
