Lung cancer affected me before I was 16. I didn't have cancer myself but my father did. He died from lung cancer shortly after my 18th birthday in 1995, after enduring chemo and radiation - the cancer had spread everywhere.
My mother, years later, was also diagnosed with lung cancer. She fought a hard fight. She had surgery to remove part of her lung and lots of chemo, she went into remission. But, in 2010 it returned. Not that she didn't fight like a warrior again. But her tired body could not take anymore. She died May 22nd of 2010!
We need to find a cure for cancer so the suffering for patients and loved ones left behind can be over.
