Nikki U.

I'm a 35 year old non-smoker, who never smoked a day in my life that was diagnosed October 5, 2016 with NSCLC.

After several years of being told by medical professionals that I shouldn't worry about the mass in my lung found by accident because I was young, active and healthy I decided to continue the investigation to find definitive answers as to what this mass was. After persistent checkups and finding a doctor to listen I had a lobectomy on my upper lobe of right lung and was diagnosed with mucinous adenocarcinoma. My world crumbled and slowly I'm finding strength to stand back up and fight!

My husband has been my rock and caregiver throughout this entire experience. My message is to not give up, be insistent on screenings no matter what your advised on. I'm blessed to be able to tell my story! I didn't fit the typical profile for a lung cancer diagnosis, be vigilant, follow your instincts and never ever give up!
