Rodney T.

My father was diagnosed with lung cancer, He quit smoking in 1955. He was experiencing chest pain so he went to the doctor who ordered X-rays and CAT scans. There was a mass in his left lung. My dad had a biopsy done and the results were cancer.

He experienced pain, coughing, loss of appetite with losing weight. He had to go to the hospital to be treated for blood clots in his lungs and legs due to the cancer. We were told he was in stage four. The cancer spread from his lung to his liver and bones. He declined rapidly, spent one night in Hospice where my dad died October 15, 2016. He never had a chance to get chemo therapy. The doctor said at that point chemo would do more harm then good.

I often wonder if it would have been different if the cancer had been detected earlier. It will be hard for me this Christmas. We took many trips together. We had a trip planned together for Thanksgiving week.
