I live in Rockwood, Tennessee, and I have developed a serious breathing problem since I have moved here. I live next to two companies that are polluting the air I breathe. One burns nickel and the other burns copper.
I am fighting for the air I breathe, because of the breathing troubles I didn't used to have. I can't remember the last time I stepped outside to breathe fresh air in the wintertime, so I will no longer take clean air for granted.
I have called the police, the mayor, city officials, and state representatives, and my complaints have fallen on deaf ears. I heard several people have even sued because this problem.
The wintertime is when they do the most burning. I step outside in the evenings and the smoke is so thick, it’s like standing next to a pile of burning tires. I know these industries have caused my health problems. I want someone to come in this town, shut the places down that are killing people.
