CHARLOTTE, NC | August 18, 2021
Today, the American Lung Association in North Carolina announced that this year’s LUNG FORCE Turquoise Tasting will return to the Duke Mansion on Thursday, October 14.
The Turquoise Tasting is a food and beverage pairing event, which includes a silent auction, live music, a wine pull, silent auction and other fun activities. This special evening brings together the Charlotte community and its LUNG FORCE Heroes to celebrate advancements in lung cancer research and raise funding for the years to come.
“We are so happy to bring our fun and unique Turquoise Tasting back to the gorgeous Duke Mansion, where we can gather safely to raise money for a critical cause – lung cancer research,” said Jennifer Hall, executive director for the Lung Association. “Lung cancer is the number one cancer killer here in North Carolina and nationwide, but there is good news. Because of reductions in tobacco use, increases in low-dose CT scans for early detection and funding of promising research lung cancer, we have seen significant improvement in 5-year survival rates, up 13% over the past five years to 23%.”
This is the 6th year of the Turquoise Tasting in Charlotte. Last year, the event was held virtually. During this year’s event, the Lung Association will implement extensive health and safety measures for participants, volunteers, and staff, and comply with all local, state and federal regulations.
Money raised at the Turquoise Tasting will support the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer by funding lung cancer research, raising awareness for lung cancer screening, helping people quit smoking, providing resources to people with lung cancer and more. The event will also fund the organization’s efforts to end lung disease and support the COVID-19 Action Initiative.
The LUNG FORCE Turquoise Tasting will take place on Thursday, October 14 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the event and corporate sponsorships are available at CharlotteTurquoiseTasting.org.
