Cleveland Clinic Continues Investment to Address Lung Health Disparities in Northeast Ohio

To provide free health screenings at LUNG FORCE Run/Walk, Oct 15

Cleveland Clinic announced today that its Multicultural Lung Health Center will again provide free health screenings at the American Lung Association’s annual LUNG FORCE Run/Walk taking place October 15 at Wade Oval. Participants will be able to be screened for lung function and blood pressure.

“We are pleased to be able to once again offer free health screenings at the Lung Force Run/Walk this year,” said Sumita Khatri, M.D., director of the Asthma Center at Cleveland Clinic. “Early detection can save lives, and we are proud to be able to reach out to the community during this event. Besides screenings, we will be on site to connect community members with resources to help them to better understand their conditions and manage their health.
The LUNG FORCE Run/Walk is held to support lifesaving research, local programs and advocacy for the 1.6 million people in Ohio suffering from lung disease.

“With the support of Cleveland Clinic, we’re able to address lung health disparities that have existed for too long in our communities,” said Kim Covey, Executive Director of the Lung Association. “We’re grateful for all of the work and resources that Cleveland Clinic is putting toward our communities.”

Registration for the event is free but fundraising is encouraged. Those who raise a minimum of $100 will receive a commemorative t-shirt. More information is available at LUNGFORCE.org/Cleveland.

Participants can take advantage of free street parking within the vicinity of Wade Oval. For those that choose to drive, the Cleveland VA Medical Center has generously donated a limited number of parking spaces in their parking garage (10681-10641 Magnolia Dr, Cleveland, OH 44106). Public transportation, along with other select area garage parking options are available for a fee. Early arrival is also encouraged.
